What if I'm audited?

What Taxfyle's audit protection covers, and what to do if you receive a notice.

Taxfyle offers audit protection on personal tax returns. If you add it during checkout, a Taxfyle Pro will represent you before the IRS or your state tax agency for three years from the date your return is filed.

Audit protection doesn't cover an audit that results from information knowingly left off or misstated on your return.

Audit protection isn't available for business returns filed through Taxfyle. Review your return before it's filed so everything is complete and accurate.

Keep the records that support the income and expenses on your return. If you're audited, those records are what substantiate what you filed.

Not every notice from the IRS is an audit. Many are routine: something may be missing from your return, or the IRS may want to confirm income you reported.

If you receive a notice from the IRS or your state, contact Taxfyle Support and we'll connect you with the Pro who filed your return and they'll explain what the notice is asking for and what to do next.
